Beer makes a suitable gift year round. Especially so for holidays like this weekends pending Fathers Day hoopla. I say: help every male celebrate a great day! Here’s some history on where the holiday came from.

The gift of beer is a welcome treat year round and now is a tasty time to support your local brewery and whoop it up for Dad’s everywhere.

As you grill and cook for Dad, match the flavors of the foods to the beer for delicious results.

  • Does he like a balanced malty beer, like a red or brown? Then treat him to the King Street Brown by Schooner Exact. It’ll pair well with grilled, roasted or sautéed mushrooms.
  • Does he prefer a crisper beer with a bite of hops? Try Georgetown Brewing’s Manny’s Pale Ale with lightly mayonnaisey potato salad. I put chopped green olives in mine for a mildly salty snap too.
  • How about a nice after meal dessert? Lantern Brewing’s Tripel with savory sweet carrot cake will make him smile.

Whatever he may like, make the effort to give him a fresh beer in his glass. Sharing a few different beers with him, for those 21+ years of age, is a delightful and satisfying way to say “Thanks” to Dads everywhere.

I like a pint of one of my Dad’s go-to beers: Leinenkugel’s Original. Cheers to you, Dad, and to fresh beer all across our incredible country –

‘Till the next glass,

Ginger

Pairing Suggestion: Grilled fresh vegetables like onions, bell peppers (I love red & orange), and squash as you can find them in season – lightly brushed with olive oil, sprinkled with dill weed, salt & pepper are divinely simple, nutritious and tasty. Pour a moderate beer like a Pale Ale or an Amber to complement and not overwhelm the foods.

Event: The well run & fun Washington Brewers Fest is this weekend. Check out the details & come visit Ginger at the bright orange Women Enjoying Beer booth, have a fresh Washington beer and try a cider as well!
