Adapting Mental Health Novel to Film to Promote Mental Health Awareness and Suicide Prevention by Felicia Johnson

HER by Felicia JohnsonWhen I was fifteen my best friend committed suicide. I found out after her death that she had a Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) stemming from the trauma of childhood abuse. This is the story of my best-selling novel, Her (www.herthebook.com). This novel is to help bring the understanding of BPD within reach of many young people and families afflicted with this life-changing diagnosis of BPD, and has already helped many come to terms with mental health issues they face.

Campaign for awareness!

I am an author of a bestselling novel, speaker, and mental health and youth advocate. As someone who works in the mental health field for over 10 years, and as someone personally affected & a survivor of child abuse, I know a diagnosis like this can be a turning point in a young person’s life. 1 out of every 4 people struggles with mental illness – stop and think and you’ll discover that you probably know someone who is going through that right now. Yes, mental illness is the dark secret so many live with, and now you can help change this.

We are in the process of turning this book into a movie, so we can reach thousands more and change the perception of mental illness and enable those who need the help to get it, help those going through this and also help families of those going through this to understand what their loved ones are facing. My goal is to help put an end to stigma on mental health and provide hope to those who seek help.

Make a difference in the life of someone you care about – Just think, if you know 100 people then you at least 20 people dealing with mental illness of some sort. Help us raise a bare minimum of $6,000 in order to get the pre-production of this movie off the ground.

There are great perks for each level of donations, so check out the donations page  for more details.
