SEATTLE (March 12, 2024) – On Tuesday February 27, 2024, the American Craft Spirits Association (ACSA), the nation’s only national registered non-profit trade association representing the U.S. craft spirits industry, announced the winners of its 10th Annual Judging of American Craft Spirits Awards. Medalists were honored in person at ACSA’s 11th Annual Distillers’ Convention and Vendor Trade Show in Denver. During an awards luncheon held at the Convention, ACSA proudly bestowed Old Log Cabin Bourbon Whiskey 10 Year the award of Gold Medal in the Whiskey Class.
“It truly is a remarkable feeling to be recognized by those who understand the challenges and triumphs of the industry firsthand. Being acknowledged by our peers not only motivates us to continue pushing boundaries and striving for greatness but also reinforces the sense of community and camaraderie within our field. This award isn’t just a trophy; it’s a symbol of the respect and admiration of those who share our passion and dedication.” John Fisk, President and Owner.
The whiskey is Seattle fermented, distilled and barrel aged on the banks of Elliott Bay. Its unconventional mashbill of 51% corn and 49% malted barley gives Old Log Cabin Bourbon Whiskey 10 Year a rich and complex flavor profile that sets it apart from traditional bourbons. The corn provides a sweet and mellow base, while the malted barley adds a smooth undertone. The bourbon whiskey has aromas of cherry pipe tobacco, ripe stone fruit, baking spice and leather on the nose. Flavors of chocolate, toasted oak, apricot and vanilla on the palate. Each sip of this carefully crafted bourbon is a journey through the Pacific Northwest, encapsulating the spirit of the rugged wilderness, innovation and the artisanal craftsmanship that defines the region.
ACSA works rigorously to develop and fine-tune its methodology in order to ensure it continues to be one of the most valuable judging competitions in the industry. Spirits were scored on appearance, aroma intensity, aroma complexity, palate concentration, palate complexity, body, character and nature of alcohol, texture, and finish. Finally, each judge was asked if they would pour the spirit for a peer.
