Basil & Salt Lifestyle Studios Expands With New Division, Basil & Salt Showcase, Exclusive to G1NBC

PACIFIC NORTHWEST — December 08, 2025. G1NBC’s Food Network has officially appointed Karie Engels as Host & Executive Creative Director, a dual leadership and on-air role overseeing the network’s culinary identity, original programming, and collaborative creator partnerships across all food and lifestyle content.

Engels will shape network strategy, greenlight new series, guide visual and narrative direction, and work directly with chefs, producers, and creators to expand the network’s culinary storytelling footprint. She will also host flagship programming and work closely with production teams, bringing her editorial and immersive storytelling background directly to viewers.

A New Network Division: Basil & Salt Showcase

In conjunction with her appointment, Basil & Salt Lifestyle Studios has launched a new network-exclusive production arm, Basil & Salt Showcase, dedicated solely to developing original culinary programming for G1NBC’s Food Network.

The division will:

Engels brings more than a decade of culinary editorial leadership, series development, and entrepreneurial brand building to the network. As founder of Basil & Salt Lifestyle Media Group, she has created award-nominated publishing content, built commercial partnerships, and expanded food and lifestyle media into digital, print, and OTT platforms.

First Series Launches in January: Taste of the Pacific Northwest

Engels’ inaugural series under the Showcase division, Taste of the Pacific Northwest, begins filming at the end of January 2026. The travel-focused program will highlight culinary landscapes across Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and British Columbia, featuring fisheries, foraging traditions, small farms, Indigenous foodways, and the chefs shaping contemporary regional cuisine.

Finalizing the production schedule and solidifying filming locations is underway now, with principal photography beginning at the end of January 2026.
