Cocktail Friday; Leigh’s Almond-tini

When I take my seat in front of the laptop on Friday mornings to choose the cocktail of the day, it isn’t always an easy task.  There are so many delightful options on the screen in front of me and I have several things to keep in mind when sorting. Just a few of them are;

  • Checking to ensure I haven’t written about this in a previous post
  • That it’s relative to today’s trends
  • Fairly seasonal
  • It needs to be visually appealing
  • A well written recipe is required
  • The “spirits” involved cannot be too similar to those already on board for the month.

Those questions up there are the first items that pop in to my head before considering which cocktail to share with you and today was a devilishly difficult post.  While we are at summers end and Autumn is rolling in sweetly, I felt between this site, my Facebook pages, Twitter, Google+ and Linkedin I had posted more than enough apple, caramel and pumpkin posts this week.  As much as I love them, one can only take so much.

When I spied the ingredients list for the Almond-tini over on Shaun’s site, I knew I had found my post.  A creme based drink, Leigh’s Almond-tini is perfect for the changing of the seasons.  It’s heavy, utilizes the delectable Hazelnut Liqueur accompanied by Creme de Cacao and yes, I could easily see myself sipping one or three of these by firelight while watching the moon rise.

Leigh’s Almond-tini

  • 1 1/2 oz. Vanilla Infused Vodka
  • 1/2 oz. Hazelnut Liqueur
  • 1/2 oz. Creme de Cacao
  • 1/2 oz. Light Cream

Method:  Pour all ingredients into a shaker glass with ice.  Cap off and shake well.  Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.  If you have any available, use shaved almonds as a garnish.  If that is not available, drop in a maraschino cherry.
