Here in the Northwest spring and summer can actually sneak up on you. June and July can be here on paper, but the marine air, cool temps and dampness can fool you a bit. Our temps passed the 80 degree mark for a couple of days earlier this spring, however the thick cloud cover creeped in off shore, and our temps quickly plummeted again with highs in the upper 50’s.
There are days when the only signs of spring are the local farmers markets opening for customers and roadside stand filling with fruit. That’s when we head out and begin stocking the fridge with sweet delicious strawberries and start thinking about strawberry jam. I am ahead of myself though, jam is another post entirely. This weekend, we are ready for cocktails.
Today, the yards need to be weeded, lawns mowed and new bark will be put down in the flower beds, so the cocktail of choice following such a busy Saturday will be loaded with the delightful flavor of spring. Strawberries.
I have included the links to each of these recipes. Please visit the originating site, poke around a bit and print out a few more of the delicious concoctions you find there!
