Enjoy a Taste of Brazil with this Classic Cocktail Made with Cane Sugar and Lime
The Caipirinha, Brazil’s national cocktail, has roots dating back to the early 20th century. Originally conceived as a remedy for the Spanish flu, it quickly became a popular drink due to its refreshing taste and simple ingredients. Made with cachaça, a spirit derived from fermented sugarcane juice, the Caipirinha captures the essence of Brazilian culture and hospitality. Ingredients
- 2 limes, cut into wedges
- 4 teaspoons cane sugar
- 6 oz cachaça (Brazilian rum)
- Ice cubes
- Lime slices for garnish

Instructions
- Place the lime wedges and cane sugar into a cocktail shaker.
- Muddle the lime and sugar together until the sugar is dissolved and the lime juice is released.
- Fill the shaker with ice cubes.
- Pour in the cachaça.
- Shake well until the mixture is chilled.
- Divide the mixture between two glasses.
- Garnish each glass with a lime slice.
