Game Weekend Brunch

The weekdays seem to creep at a slow pace to bring weekend mornings around, which in theory should give us all the time we need to plan for Saturday and Sunday morning breakfast and brunches.  That is of course not always the case.

With Super Bowl Sunday just around the corner, I have been on the search for special weekend starters to begin Saturday and Game Day Sunday to get them flowing in to the right spirit of the day.   While we eat pretty heartily on these two days of rest, this is a special occasion so I need to step it up a notch or two and I thought I would share a few of my finds with you.  I would love it if you would share your favs as well.

I have been flying all over the web this morning and my first landing spot was bon appetit.  A crew of football aficionados require their belly’s to be filled at regular intervals and I know this will be an excellent start.

Chorizo and Scrambled Eggs Breakfast Taco

Food and Wine is always an excellent source for any recipe need.  The February 2012 issue’s Star Chefs’ Dream Recipes is must read if you have a few minutes as these 10 featured chefs are passionate about making this world a better place, it is inspiring.  The dish that caught my eye however, is an online recipe that brought tears to my eyes.

Salmon, Bacon and Potato Hash

The FoodNetwork caught my eye as usual with a masterpiece from Tyler Florence.  The beauty of the dish is inspiring in itself and it is full of cheeses, cream, eggs, sour cream and canadian bacon.  The name simply speaks for itself.

Smoked Ham, Gruyere and Caramelized Onion Frittata

Since it is law at my breakfast table that the morning is not complete without Pancakes or Waffles, I scooted on over to Martha Stewart to see what was cooking in her corner of the world and when I saw the word chocolate, it was all over.  Hooked.

Silver-Dollar Pancake Sundaes with Chocolate Hazelnut Sauce

Bringing on the sweet stuff is not only a necessity for my taste buds, it is a regular staple on the menu.  I visited Country Living to check out what they were baking up in their kitchen and since I have a difficult time passing up anything with “Cinnamon” in the name, I had to stop and window shop.   These will do with just a hot cup of java and a quiet weekday morning as well.

Cinnamon-Pecan Sticky Buns

Since I was already in the neighborhood I stuck around long enough to poke some more in their recipe box and found another great start to Game Day Sunday.

Cappuccino Doughnuts

The weekend will  be filled with good foods, drink, great friends, a few cheers and jeers and as always, have a great one!   If you feel like stopping by, come find me on FB too!
