Stone Brewing Co. taps Chef Baumgarten’s brewing talents

In San Diego, a beer centric city filled with the nations most respected breweries, a new North Park neighborhood bistro and beer bar, Waypoint Public, is quickly making a name for itself as the citys go-to for unbeatable craft beer and food pairings, with firecracker Executive Chef / Partner Amanda Baumgarten at the helm. With over a decade of training and working at several of the most prestigious restaurants in the industry, including La Tante Claire and Le Govroche in London, the Bravo Networks Top Chef Veteran has gone on to become the Executive Chef of both Water Grill in Los Angeles and most recently opening Herringbone in La Jolla before launching Waypoint.

Not only does this feisty and noted female chef cook with the beer on her menu, she is an avid home brewer who was recently tapped by mega brewery Stone Brewing Co. to do a limited chef collaboration beer this Summer, marking the first of its kind in beer collaborations for Stone. In addition, Waypoint Public is announcing their hotly anticipated “Brewmaster Dinner Series”, combining Chef Amanda’s culinary talents with breweries in San Diego and beyond such as Ballast Point, AleSmith, Dogfish Head and more.

San Diego brewmasters, one of the world’s most celebrated breweries, Stone Brewing Co. in San Diego, has approached Amanda to brew her very own homebrew recipe on Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens – Liberty Station’s 10-barrel system. For any modest homebrewer the chance to partner with a brewery of Stone’s caliber and reputation is truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Stone has never done a chef collaboration of this nature before, and for Amanda, next to co-opening her own restaurant (Waypoint Public), this partnership is one of the proudest moments of her professional career.

The Beer: An Apricot & Arbol Saison brewed with apricots, chile de arbol, juniper berry, savory and vanilla pods, which she’ll be creating alongside Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens – Liberty Station Brewing Manager, Kris Ketcham.
