Zipline over the fall colors of West Virginia

Outdoor adventures in an idyllic autumn setting await

In the autumn, the mountains and forests of West Virginia come alive with spectacular colors, and the most exciting way to experience the fall foliage is ziplining through the mountains and over the gorges in southern West Virginia. As the third most forested state, West Virginia provides a lush tableau of colors that are especially vibrant for fall travelers.

Celebrity Cruises and goop Sail Into Fall With Well-Being Cruises

Celebrity Cruises and goop today announced it is furthering its partnership by bringing some of goop’s favorite practitioners on board for a series of four Caribbean sailings this fall.

Kicking off in October, goop practitioners and experts will lead exclusive programming, including workouts and mindfulness sessions with a goal of enriching guests’ collective well-being while aboard the new luxury brand’s most exquisite ships.

Topgolf to Begin Construction on First Multi-level Seattle-area Venue

First location in area will bring signature Topgolf experience next to The Landing in Renton

Global sports and entertainment leader Topgolf Entertainment Group will introduce its technology-enabled entertainment experience to the greater Seattle area with a new, state-of-the-art venue. This venue, expected to open in 2022, held a groundbreaking ceremony on August 3 to kick off construction of what will be Topgolf’s first traditional multi-level entertainment venue to serve Washingtonians. Topgolf Renton-Seattle will be located off Logan Ave. near Boeing’s Renton Factory and The Landing Shopping mall. 

Topgolf Renton-Seattle will feature Topgolf’s new skylit central atrium design. With comfortable seating, yard games, and a giant video wall, the skylit central atrium creates a hang-out spot and connects the fun of hitting bays with the action of our patio, bars and roof terraces.

“We’re thrilled to kick off the development of Topgolf Renton-Seattle and look forward to unveiling this state-of-the-art venue,” said Topgolf Chief Development Officer Chris Callaway. “This exciting development will not only allow us to entertain the community, but also further enhance the south end of Lake Washington by serving as an anchor in Renton’s entertainment district.”

The new, three-level venue, which is expected to employ more than 500 Associates once open, will feature 102 outdoor hitting bays, plus a full-service restaurant and bar and event space for corporate and social events.

Ms. Ueberroth, whose company operates Preferred Hotels & Resorts and Beyond Green among other travel brands, tells Wallin that the COVID pandemic has profoundly impacted how travelers are now approaching their vacation planning. “Freedom of movement was taken away from us,” she explains. “The time is now, so waiting for retirement isn’t as much of a consideration. Once international travel really opens, I do think people will travel further abroad than they previously would have before the pandemic. They are seizing the opportunity after such a prolonged wait.”

Ms. Ueberroth also points to changes in regional travel planning. “We all started exploring our own backyards in our own countries or cities or states that we didn’t used to. I think that we’ve started to really appreciate and enjoy our own countries again,” she tells Mr. Wallin. “This should lead to a renaissance of that around the globe.”

Guests in all cabins can now leverage our industry leading pre-order functionality to select meals and snacks and store payment for convenient onboard purchases

As more of our guests fly again, Alaska Airlines is thoughtfully and safely expanding food and beverage service on our flights, part of a process that started earlier this year. With our reinvigorated service, we’re now offering an expanded selection of freshly prepared, West Coast inspired First Class meals on all flights more than 670 miles and hot meals on flights longer than 1,100 miles. New seasonal entrees include Guajillo Chile-Lime Salad with ancient grains, roasted broccoli and sweet potato with a roasted lemon crema, and Miso Marinated Cod with sesame garlic farro, sauteed yu choy, bell peppers and shitake mushrooms in a sesame-miso butter sauce. Guests can choose from three menu selections on all meal flights.
  • Full tray service in First Class – including Schoenwald porcelain and compostable linen and silverware – has resumed on routes longer than 670 miles.
  • We offer a full selection of alcohol and non-alcoholic beverages available in all cabins with multiple cart services on flights more than 1,100 miles. We feature craft beer by Fremont Brewing, and as a new summer beer option we’re serving Kona Longboard Island Lager on board. Plus, we serve West Coast wines curated exclusively for us from Broken Earth Winery in Paso Robles, California, and Canoe Ridge Vineyard in Columbia Valley, Washington.
  • We make pre-ordering easy so our guests can rest assured they’ll get their favorites. With our industry leading pre-order program, selecting First Class and main cabin meals from our mobile app can happen two weeks before a flight and up to one hour prior to departure. That includes pre-ordering our popular Fruit and Cheese Platter.
  • On our shorter flights between 670-1,099 miles, we’ve added more snacks. We’ve brought back our popular Northwest Deli Picnic Pack which includes Deep River potato chips, Old Wisconsin Turkey Stick, Madi K’s Whole Natural Almonds, Gilman White Cheddar Cheese Stick and Mandy’s Dark Chocolate Cookie Thins. The picnic packs can be pre-ordered up to one hour before departure and can also be purchased on board with a credit card or stored form of payment.
  • In First Class, guests are treated to a fully recyclable, box-shaped carton of water, sealed with a plant-based cap. Each Boxed Water carton is made from sustainably harvested trees and the multi-filtered water goes through a proprietary eight-step purification – giving it a clean, crisp taste.

Safety will always remain our top consideration on board. We’re partnering closely with epidemiologists and our internal safety experts as we implement new food and beverage service on our flights. We’ll continue to enforce the federal mandate requiring our guests to wear masks over their nose and mouth during travel. Guests can briefly lift their masks for eating and drinking. Our mantra: “After you sip or snack, please put your mask back.”

As the world re-opens and we begin dining out more, I am prepared to answer these repeat questions. Solo dining is no longer regarded as a lonely venture. So why do people still seem surprised when we take ourselves to lunch in the afternoon or out to dinner for the evening?

If this is your year to begin dining alone, don’t be embarrassed. The number of single diners is increasing and as the world opens up again we all would really love to get out of the house. If you’re nervous, bring a smart device, a book or a book ON your smart device. Catch up on reading, the news, trending articles and simply enjoy your quiet time and space.

Solo dining while on business travel

Gone are the days of taking meals only in the room. After a day of corporate training or meetings, it’s now not uncommon to show up solo for lunch for dinner with a tablet or other smart device, as sometimes it’s the only chance during the day to catch up on emails, family or simply the news.
